Powerful waistcoats
In collaboration with Jerichau Design, Skanderborg Festival and Alexandra Institute Interactive Spaces has developed a safety waistcoat that recharges energy.
Mobile technologies biggest weakness is that they rely on stationary power sources. This problem can be solved by using intelligent textiles. An area with surprisingly little research and development. Jesper Nielsen, Interactive Spaces, has taken the lead up and has helped to initiate the development of the safety waistcoat.
The waistcoat was tested in a pilot project at Skanderborg Festival, where security guards often experienced that their mobile phones ran out of power during the night. By means of bendable and flexible solar panels placed in the shoulder of a safety waistcoat, batteries placed on the waistcoat were recharged.
