Danish Minister for Culture visits Katrinebjerg On Monday, November 19 2012 Carsten Hansen, the Minister of Housing, Urban and Rural Affairs, visits Aarhus University and the Alexandra Institute. Among others Professor Kaj Grønbæk will present the EcoSense project at the Department of Computer Science. The results from the EcoSense project may e.g. help urban planners to understand and improve transportation infrastructures in a more green direction. Moreover, results from the EcoSense studies at the Grundfos Dormitory in Aarhus Harbour are expected to provide knowledge that can reduce the CO2 footprint of community housing. [more]

The Danish National Advanced Technology Foundation has granted 4m DKK to the PosLogistics project PosLogistics - A position-based real time hospital ressource planning system has been granted 4m DKK by the National Advanced Technology Foundation to increase the patient flow and efficiency and make it easier to coordinate and plan the services at the hospitals based on positioning technologies and adaptive logistics. Interactive soundscapes at Roskilde festival The interactive installation DIGIdance challenges the guests at Roskilde festival to use their bodies to evoke sound and light. In two six-meter high towers the dancing guests activate a number of sensors, which triggers both a soundtrack and pulsating light. [more]

Aarhus Festival application with new features For the fourth year running visitors to the Aarhus Festival were able to guide themselves between concerts and beer tents by means of an application developed by the Center for Interactive Spaces. Since last year the features include a map with integrated GPS search on current events. The application is compatible with both iPhone, Android and Java phones. [more]

Galileo Platform project featured in DR2 Viden Om November 10, the research activities from the Galileo Platform project were featured in the DR2 Viden Om broadcast about the "GPS Revolution". The Viden Om broadcast can be found on dr.dk/videnom. The main focus of the clip was on our research into indoor positioning and in particular the FireSafe system being developed in collaboration with Systematic. The Galileo Platform project is supported by the Danish National Advanced Technology Foundation and it is managed by the Alexandra Institute. [more]
